I had a dream on October 31st... I was in a house with a few other people, none of them was familiar to me. Suddenly, a group of men came storming through an open door into the house and ordered us to leave and stay outside. They went through every inch of the house as I anxiously waited for them to finish. I prayed that they won't find our precious possession - a bag of money - I hid under a desk in the house. When they were done, they were gone as fast as they came in. I rushed back to the house and looked for the bag of money under the desk. It was gone! They had taken the bag and everything in it. I had that sinking feeling of helplessness and discouragement.
I felt turmoil inside as I was waking up from that dream. So, I prayed to God to give me the revelation of my dream.

The Holy Spirit revealed to me that when we have a "secret" and unconfessed sin in our lives, we unknowingly open the door for the enemy to come in. This includes generational sin. Exodus 34:6-7 (NIV) says, “The Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin do not leave the guilty unpunished; He punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” An example of generational sin is abuse of all forms. When a child is abused by his father, then he abuses his son, and the son abuses his son, and so on and so forth showing a formed pattern of behavior, the sin of abuse becomes a generational curse. Without us knowing it, a door may have been left open for the enemy to come in and access areas of our lives affected by generational sin (or curse). However, do not get this confused with our own sin. Deuteronomy 24:16 clearly says, "Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin." We are accountable for the sin we commit, not our parents. So, we cannot blame them for our bad behavior. We cannot say, "My parents refused to give me my rent money so I robbed a bank" or "my mom (or dad) made me do it."
Like a thief in the night, the enemy looks for something valuable to steal from us. It could be our family, relationships, money, health, job, ministry, etc. When the enemy finds those areas which are near and dear to our hearts, he then takes residency there. Our "secret" and unconfessed sins give the enemy legal right to invade those areas of our lives. From then on, the enemy's whispers in our ears get louder and temptations get stronger influencing our decision making. The battleground is in our minds. The enemy robs us of our peace, joy and contentment through the open door as a result of our "secret" and unconfessed sin and replaces them with a feeling of guilt and shame. No wonder we become anxious and worrisome.

There are three voices we may be hearing: our own, God's voice or the enemy's. We need to be grounded in the WORD of GOD because this is the only filter we have to determine if we are hearing ourselves, God or the enemy.

If we don't have the filter in the WORD of GOD, we can get easily deceived. When we are deceived, you can be sure that our decisions and choices are affected and those areas of our lives could begin to spiral down fast. The enemy's goal is to steal, kill and destroy us.

But, when we repent, God is a God of forgiveness, always ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and full of love and mercy. No matter how deep the stain of our sins (and the sins of our ancestors) are, He can take it out and make us as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if we are stained as red as crimson, He can make us white as wool.
On the other hand, when someone wrongs us, forgive. Unforgiveness gives sanctuary to bitterness and anxiety. These are negative emotions that we shove down in an attempt to forget them. When we do not deal with our negative emotions, they create mental, emotional, and physical STRESS, which affects chemical imbalance in our bodies that eventually manifests itself as disease, i.e. Fibromyalgia, Global Pain, Insomnia, Dizziness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Autoimmune Diseases, Migraine Headache, Allergies, Peptic Ulcer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, or even Cancer to mention a few.
If we don’t forgive the wrongs of others, then our Father in heaven will not forgive the wrong things we do. But, if we forgive, He will give us one heart and a new spirit; He will take from us our hearts of stone and give us tender hearts of love. When we forgive, something is transformed inside of us...we shut the door that gave the enemy access to areas of our lives. The enemy's legal right to torment us and control those areas of our lives are now null and void. We now have the authority and legal right to evict the enemy. We can command all his maneuvers and ploys to fall to the ground to be of no avail and shut the enemy out. Then, we can attain PEACE in our lives. While the devil is our accuser, Jesus is our defender.

God promised us that He will never leave or forsake us. He is true to His words. He cannot lie. He gives us tools to defeat the enemy ~ the full armor of God. As we go about our day at home, work or wherever we may be (specially in unfamiliar places), we need to be alert and prepared to defend ourselves, our families and properties from spiritual attacks at all times. “…be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. therefore put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, you will still be standing.” (Ephesians 6:10-13). Wether you believe it or not, we are in spiritual warfare!
Let's reclaim what's rightfully ours. Let's push the enemy back. God is our Jehovah Nissi, our banner of victory, our Jehovah Rapha, God of Healing, Jehovah Sabaoth, God of Protection, Jehovah Shalom, God of Peace.
