The tongue has the power of life and death (Prov. 18:21). A few months ago, someone said hurtful words intended toward my friend of 30 years. Those words cut and left me with a bleeding heart... I could have taken the pain better if those words were directed toward me. I found it very difficult to take those words because they were intended to the person I love, a dear friend. I didn't deal with my pain...I shoved it down trying to forget it. I thought I'd be okay, but the pain that I was trying to hide did not go away. It started changing me...my heart continued to bleed for months, but I ignored it until last Sunday, during our corporate worship at church, God put His finger on my bleeding heart.
In a vision, He showed me the pain those words I heard months ago caused. I felt my heartbeats slowing down until it stopped... I couldn't feel a thing, just cold. Could my heart be dead? Then, I saw God's hands take my bleeding heart and started squeezing to resuscitate it. My heart didn't respond. He continued to squeeze it...It started warming up. A few more seconds, it started beating again. The heartbeat started slow, then, it became stronger and stronger. I could feel the love of God as he held my heart in His hands.
Had my heart died, I wouldn't be able to give or receive... I would be callous...no compassion for others. I wouldn't be able to love and won't be able to appreciate how it is to be loved! But God, He was there when my heart was cut and hurt. He saw when my heart started to bleed...when it started to die. He brought my heart back to life and health. He healed my broken heart and bound up my wounds (Psalm 147:3).
I had to forgive the person that cut me with her words. I had to repent for running away and harboring pain in my heart... Then, the most amazing thing happened. I was free from all emotional pain! Thank you, Lord!
"How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings." (Psalm 36:7)
"In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling." (Exodus 15:13)
