In the book The Hiding Place, Corrie ten Boom tells of the time she and her sister were forced to take off all their clothes during Nazi inspections at the death camp. Miss ten Boom stood in line feeling forsaken and defiled. Suddenly she remembered that Jesus hung naked on the cross. Struck with wonder and worship during that seemingly forsaken moment, ten Boom leaned forward and whispered to her sister, “Betsie, they took his clothes too.” Betsie gasped and said, “Oh, Corrie, and I never thanked him.”
There is a legend about two angels who were sent to earth to gather up the prayers of men. One was to fill his basket with the petitions of mankind. The other was to gather their prayers of thanksgiving. Sometime later they went back to the Father’s house. One had a basket heaped high and running over.
The other returned with a sad and heavy heart because his basket was almost empty. I won’t finish the story, but I’ll let you guess which basket was full and decide which one you want to fill. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
